OUR STORY
In 2007, when the doors of this cherished pizza speakeasy closed, the local community was left in disbelief—like a culinary heartbeat had been momentarily stilled. When it reopened in 2009, the town greeted its return with fervor, as if the long-awaited return of a beloved secret. Welcome to Red Top Pizza By Penny’s (formerly Penny’s Pizza), where time seems to bend in the pursuit of perfection. We embrace a distinctive rhythm—our doors are open Thursday through Sunday, inviting you to experience our artisanal thin-crust pizzas, with their delicate, crisp edges and expertly pocked, cornmeal-dusted crusts.
Simplicity is the soul of our craft. This is not a place for pretensions, but rather a celebration of impeccable quality. Behind the ovens, a small but dedicated team creates magic with a sweet red sauce that embodies a perfect balance of flavors, and a rich white sauce adorned with velvety ricotta, nestled beneath pools of decadent mozzarella, crowned with fragrant, finely minced garlic.
In true speakeasy fashion, the entrance is discreet—a back door, tucked away from the prying eye, offers an intimate invitation. Unlike most speakeasies, however, Red Top Pizza By Penny’s proudly displays a sign, a beacon of the tradition we've cultivated since 1970. Our reputation has endured for over five decades, built on the promise of that unforgettable, crunchy cornmeal crust and the singularly homemade sweet sauce that make our pizzas unlike any other.
Among our specialties, the "upside-down" pizza reigns as a signature dish—though, like all good classics, we believe in making it your own. Whether you savor it the traditional way or simply take a slice as you would any other, every bite is an invitation to indulge in a truly unique culinary experience.
